We live in a society where the internet can "attempt" a medical diagnosis and where wiki how can tell us the answer to nearly every question we have.
At the beginning of each year or course we spend at least a lesson if not more looking at the information available online. Students ask google a question about health and that is relevant to their age group. To be hones the more personal the question is to them, the more engaged they will be.
I created with the inspiration from many health sites a google form that helps students to take their question and investigate the reliability of the sites they find on google. Please not a lot of class discussion is had comparing the information we find and researching and validating the information we find.
Following the discussion and validation of the information we find, we take a look at a number of recommended websites. The list on this form is brief so that we can fit this activity into a 45min class, I do have a variety of other websites that you can access on the recommended website tab. Students take time answering their question with the help of these websites.
If time permits, we encourage students play around and look at the sites with the hope to inspire and motive them to use these as references in the future.
