Student voice in the classroom is vital to the creation of safe working spaces. I offer student voice within the academic environment through choice of content and assessment. However, I feel the most success in the issuing of these student feedback forms at the end of every unit.
These forms are distributed four times a year not including the end of year review. Once the results have been collected, I issue a list of 3 - 5 items that I will work on during the next unit. |

I created this survey from a variety of sources. The final review includes two additional questions.
These questions ask for content areas the students feel were necessary in the year but were not discussed and their learning take away from the units that were discussed. Each unit students grew in confidence and improved their ability to provide constructive feedback. They trusted the system and can see that actively work on improving their experiences from their contributions. it is important for students to see us as learners and to us listen to their feedback. This system did require me to let go of my ego as an educator and be open to change. |
