Inspired by John Medina's book, Brain Rules I felt it was important to educate students on how their brain works. By providing insight and study into each of the rules, students were more informed to make choices that benefited both their health and their learning.
The attached slide show looks at most of the brain rules. Students read, research and or view content on the rule. From their research they identify from their current habits , a need, that could benefit their learning. They implement the change for one week. During the week they take notes on how their change is impacting their learning.
During the final assignment (attached below) students had the opportunity to investigate other rules eg Gender, exploration and survival.
Students provided positive insight into the way they learn and also were able to critically analysis how as schools we teach. An insightful lesson for students and teachers.
Learners understand that Learners understand that their behaviour and habits can effect the efficiency of their learning.
Learners are able to research and learn about each brain rule, implement strategies into their daily lives and evaluate the effectiveness on their learning.
Learners are becoming more open to trying new ideas based on their learning..
